I think Reagan's real greatness was in the area of leadership.

Objectively, he addressed the great problems of the era. Domestically, it was all about the economy and people really had a good sense of economic well-being at the time. And that was all most of us were looking for.

But the big deals were nuclear proliferation and the Cold War. And because he had been a kind of pillar of strength, when it came time to make big proposals he made them, but he knew how to walk away from the the wrong deal.

I do think he was a great president, but those foreign policy accomplishments were something special, IMO.

One of the frustrating things in life is you don't get to see how history really remembers great people as the truth doesn't bubble up until after we're gone most of the time.

But I've never questioned the economic policy. I watched my clients come through it at the time and there was a lot of success.
