It means a lot when someone like Buffett, or his Berkshire Hathaway buys AAPL shares. Not only is it intended for the long term, but there is also something significant about simply buying the ordinary AAPL shares. Normally Buffett will try to take a position in a company through the issue of special convertible preferred shares, rather than buying the common stock. He likes to make purchases with low downside risk. The fact that he or his company buys the common stock gives me a very strong feeling that the stock has low downside risk, and furthermore, that the probability of a rise in the share price greatly exceeds the probability of a fall.

I or members of my family have owned BRK-A shares for over 35 years, having made my original investment when the shares were still below $300 (now over $200,000). A company like this owning Apple is a real plus.
