I speak to customers of Walmart and reasonably often I am one myself. I also know plenty of people with low paying jobs including friends and close relatives of mine.

None of which really means anything, since the point isn't my personal experience but the economics of how welfare effects the bottom of the job market (which Walmart is a bit above BTW).

If you pay people when they don't work, and reduce that pay as they earn more of their own money, people gain less from working then they otherwise would have. That's a simple fact and nothing about me or my experience at Walmart or with people who don't get paid much will change that.
