Microsoft has 32.4pct Digital Sound stake WASHINGTON, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp said Monday it holds the equivalent of a 32.4 percent stake in communications equipment developer Digital Sound Corp [Nasdaq:DGSD - news]. In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Redmond, Wash.-based computer software giant said it purchased a total of 446,250 shares of Digital's Series B convertible preferred stock for $3,346,875 in a December 19 purchase agreement. It also acquired promissory notes convertible into preferred stock. Each preferred share is convertible into 10 shares of the company's common stock, according to the SEC filing. Microsoft said it acquired the preferred shares and promissory notes for investment and may opt to sell the shares periodically. However, in the filing Microsoft said it ''reserves the right'' in the future to change its intentions.
