The only reasons I can think of for the short increase are:
1) Shorts thought that tax loss selling pressures would move the stock lower than the 3 3/8 level it traded up to after the repurchase agreement was announced.
2) There may have been prior knowledge about the little blurb that appeared in the Business week article just before short interest was recalculated. If shorts thought it would again damage the stock, why not short it and buy it back cheaper?

Overall, the total shares short makes up just over 5% of the stock, which in my opinion, is not all that big of a deal.

As far as this quarter, I don't see how they could possibly report negative earinings. We should see a healthy increase in Gross Margins from Far East production as well as contributions from new, higher gross margin products

Afaq,

Do you think that it is possible or probable that the company may show a net loss even with record revenues? In other words, do you believe that the company will be able to meet the earning estimates for the 4th. quarter?

I thought that Joe Gladue originally made estimates of only .07 a share for the last quarter but it appears that they may be higher than that. Do you think that Osicom will fall if earnings are positive but lower than expectations? I think most $2 stocks would love to have .03 or .04 with good future expectations. I also believe that many investors don't believe the estimates at all and think Osicom will show a loss. I really wish 4th quarter estimates were lower so that Osicom could have a little leeway. We shall see how the market reacts though.
