Get a used pair of B&W DM 620 speakers, they are very good quality, they will be about 20 years old, but still sound great. I bought a pair in 1992 and paid 1,000.00 dollars for them and I love them, still use them. Your AMP needs to god down to 4 Ohms so you don't blow the AMP. They sell used in the 300 dollar range.

When I was in my studio in Hawaii I used a Bose Radio. Terrific sound, especially the base. Should have brought it along with me.

They run 350 to 450 new, but there are lots of them on Ebay in the the 100 to 200 range. They are built like a tank and will run forever.

I have the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker set, 2 little speakers plus a subwoofer, 200 watts total but I only run mine about 30% of maximum. Had them about 5 years now. Sounds better than my old home theatre system (a quality older Denon stereo and big Paradigm speakers) so I now use this little Klipsch system connected to my TV headphone jack. BestBuy has them for about $150. They seemed to need a week of break-in time, for the first few days they sounded a bit harsh. Power switch is on the floor subwoofer which is a nuisance.

Bose has a similar system that sounds a little better and more mellow and has better controls and looks, but not as much total power and bass, list price expensive at $400.

For my computer I have an old 2.1 Harmon Kardon system I got with a Dell computer about 10 years ago, sounds OK but not nearly as good as the Klipsch. If these burn out I'd get another Klipsch 2.1 system.

If none of the above was available I'd look for a bigger Logitech 2.1 system $100 to $150.

These speakers are now $149.99...

amazon.com

I was filling out the warranty form on the ones I got and needed to look up the purchase date and saw the lower price.

I called Amazon and asked for a credit for the $30 difference and they said they couldn't do that, but that I could return the ones I got for a full refund of $179.99 and order a new set for $149.99.

That's what I'm doing.

Amazon will pay shipping 3X and end up with a used set of speakers rather than just crediting me the $30 difference. That's how they roll, I guess.

I liked the speakers at $179.99, so at $149.99 they are even a better value for me.
