Armed Robber Shot in Twilight Zone Parking Lot

Posted at 8:25 am on May 23, 2016 by Jenn Jacques

Alleged armed robber Tyler Ray Howell, 19, of Ocala, FL learned a valuable lesson in the Twilight Zone parking lot late Wednesday night.

If you pull a gun on a someone, you’d better be ready to get shot.

He approached a red vehicle driven by Durrell Anthony Boswell, 23, of Plant City, sheriff’s officials said. Howell aimed a silver handgun at Boswell and an unidentified woman, who was a passenger in the red vehicle.

In an act of self-defense, Boswell pulled his 9mm handgun and shot at Howell, striking him twice, a sheriff’s release states.

Boswell and Howell both left the scene separately, but both returned. Howell was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. When Boswell returned, he cooperated with detectives.

Boswell and his female passenger said they did not know Howell.

Surveillance video captured the incident, but the sheriff’s office does not plan to release it.

By coincidence, I believe it was earlier today that I advised him HE should vote for Trump.

There's a couple reasons for that, neither of which you'd understand.

A construction worker in Lake City, Florida, pulled his concealed handgun and fired two shots at an attempted armed robber this past Sunday, saving his life.

While working at a restaurant on E. Duval Street in Lake City a black teen approached the construction worker to ask for money. When Cleveland declined the teen’s request, the teen left, police said.

Later that night, while Cleveland was cleaning up for the night, the teen returned with a handgun and demanded money, according to police.

Instead of giving the teen money, Cleveland reportedly pulled his own handgun, for which he had a concealed-carry permit, and fired two shots.

The teen fled, and neither Cleveland nor police said they believed the teen was injured.

The construction worker will not face charges for the incident, in which he lawfully stood his ground and defended himself against a violent criminal.

Whoa, Maynard: Home Intruder Shot by Homeowner

Posted at 12:00 pm on May 24, 2016 by Jenn Jacques

A home intruder in north Columbus, OH was shot early Saturday when residents of a home on Maynard Avenue heard someone breaking in via their front door at approximately 3AM, Columbus Division of Police said.

One of the men inside the house went downstairs to check what was going on. Two suspects forced the door open and pointed a gun at him, and he started to run back upstairs.

Police say the second resident heard what was going on and grabbed his shotgun, left his bedroom and moved towards the stairwell. When he saw one of the suspects, identified as 28-year-old Tony Kendrick, he fired his gun and hit Kendrick in the arm.

Kendrick and another unknown suspect fled the scene.

Kendrick was arrested after he was located at the hospital.

Posted at 2:35 pm on May 23, 2016 by Bob Owens

A Wilson, North Carolina homeowner shot and killed a man whom he says was trying to kick in the door to his home. The homeowner says that he warned the man, but was forced to fire as the intruder continued trying to force his way into the home.

A man died Monday morning after he was shot while reportedly trying to break in to a Wilson home, police said.

Officers responding to a burglary in progress call in the 1900 block of Winoca Road at about 1:15 a.m. found a wounded man outside a home, police said.

The homeowner told police that he heard someone trying to kick in the door to his house, and he warned the intruder to stop before firing shots through the door.

Tulsa police said when two men forced their way into a Tulsa, OK woman’s home Sunday night; she was able to defend herself with a little help from her gun.

“As they continued towards her, she drew the gun up and shot about three rounds at the suspects,” said Corporal RW Solomon.

Police said she wounded one of the suspects by shooting him in the chest before they left in a white four-door car. Officers said that vehicle was later seen dropping that suspect off at a hospital.

Neighbors said it’s a quiet neighborhood, so they were surprised to see what happened at the home.

“Our neighbors are really nice, at least the ones I have met, so it’s usually pretty quiet over here,” April Calvert said.

She is new to the neighborhood and said she was shocked to find out about the home invasion.

“I went to the QuikTrip and when I came back, there was just a bunch of people outside a few hours down over there,” said Calvert. “I just moved in. This is my second month living here so…a little nervous, yeah.”

Police said the woman told them she didn’t know the men, leading them to believe it could be a random break-in.

But, Calvert said she doesn’t regret moving into the neighborhood, saying it’s still a good place to call home.

“It doesn’t make me scared. It just makes me want to look out now,” she said.

Tucson News Now A group of armed, masked men broke down the door to an apartment building on Tucson’s South side at approximately 5:30 AM on Sunday, said Sgt. Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department.

The targeted attack may have intended to catch their victims unprepared, but it didn’t catch them unarmed.

Occupants of the apartment shot back at the intruders, striking one of the suspects in the leg. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

He has since been upgraded to serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are searching for the other home invasion suspects.

This was a targeted attack and not random, according to Dugan.

Bullets went through the apartment walls into a neighboring unit, though no one was struck. A water main line was pierced and multiple apartment homes below were flooded

A husband in Detroit successfully defended himself and his wife when an intruder ordered them into their basement and held the couple at gunpoint.

Detroit police said two armed men were expecting to rob Daniel McNamara and his wife Monday night, but they weren’t expecting what happened next.

“He kept telling us to turn around, I said ‘No, I’m not going to turn around,’ I said ‘You’ve got to kill me face to face’,” said McNamara.

He said the suspects wanted him and his wife to turn around so they wouldn’t remember their faces.

During the home invasion, the suspects took both of the McNamara’s wedding rings, her purse, cash and cell phones.

“He kept pointing the gun at my head and said, ‘You don’t think I’ll kill you face to face?’ I said ‘I don’t know, but you’re going to have to because I’m not turning around’,” said McNamara.

He said he happened to have a gun stashed in the same area the suspects were holding the pair at gun point.

“All I could think about, how can I get that gun,” said McNamara.

He took his opportunity when one of the suspects said he would be right back and turned around and headed toward the stairs.

“Of course I was scared, who wouldn’t be? Some goon has a gun to your head and tells you he’s going to shoot you because you’ve seen his face,” said McNamara.

He fired off two shots and hit one of the suspects once, sending the suspects fleeing.

While one home intruder was located at a local hospital, police are still searching for the second suspect.

McNamara remains thankful the situation ended the way it did.

“The Lord looked out for us today,” he said.
