I always thought the nice thing about calling it NetWare 5.0 was that it sort of co-opts the 5.0 label from NT and subtly emphasizes in the buyer's mind that Novell's 5.0 OS is out and MSFTs is not and won't be for another year. I believe Microsoft did this to WordPerfect when they went from Word version 2.0 to 5.0 or 6.0. I think WordPerfect was coming out with 5.0 at the time, which was supposed to be leaps ahead of the previous version. I find it highly ironic that Novell is (finally) doing the kind of thing to Microsoft with the 5.0 tag that Microsoft has been doing to others for years. If I'm reading into this correctly, it may be a sign that marketing is starting to catch on to how the game is played. Then again, I'm probably all wet.
