Our group would appear to be lagging. The indexes were down a bit less and a bit more than 25% at March 31. They have had a 5-10% rally. Our group only a minor % rally.

Biotech investors were JAZZed up for most of the week, bidding stock prices higher. But having sufficient gains for a fun three-day weekend holiday, came Friday, the longs left the field to the shorts.
Despite a down Friday, biotechs had another positive week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -21.31% YTD (vs. down -26.12% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -16.76% YTD (vs. down -18.45% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -17.52% YTD (vs. down -19.15% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -1.30% YTD (vs. down -1.48% YTD a week ago).
DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 21.46% YTD, had another Yuge week and held on to a large lead. Second place MASTER’s portfolio, up 9.25% YTD, and third place JBOG’’s portfolio, up 0.31% YTD, also produced nice gains for the week.
At Friday’s close, 55 of the 58 Contest portfolios were in the red, with 18 beating the NBI and 19 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -16.33% and a median YTD loss of -19.55%, with 51 of the 224 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
