They would take an hour to charge. With one car coming in for a swap every 20 seconds, there would need to be 180 batteries per hour available With 4 pit stop lanes, that would mean 700 batteries an hour would be needed, so there would need to be a stack of batteries of maybe 1000 or 2000 to take advantage of lower-priced electricity when it's available.

If their dimensions are 1.5 metres by 1 metres by 0.2 metres and they are stacked 20 high, then the pile will be 4 metres high, 50 metres long and 1.6 metres wide.

With 2000 on charge at one time and 10 kilowatts per battery, that's only 20,000 kilowatts required to keep a constant flow of cars in four lanes supplied. 20 megawatts is just a small power station.

But reticulated electricity supply from millions of people with photovoltaics on their roof would be cheaper at times such as bright day time, or big coal fired power stations. Or maybe swishy little fusion reactors will be developed.

That looks doable to me.

With Peak Roads and Google, Qualcomm, Apple, etc making auto-drive Uber cars, the number of cars around cities will dwindle to a fraction of what there now are. Traffic jams will evaporate. Traffic lights will be obsolete. Whole lanes of motorways will be able to be converted to other things, such as 7SSSSs and even 20 megawatt power stations.

The performance specs for 7SSS modules would be quarter the Tesla power for dinky little Google autocars tootling around town. Near enough for government work anyway.

Since the 7SSSS would own the batteries, they wouldn't accept poor quality batteries that might catch fire or otherwise cause problems.
