The primary motivation behind any US military action is profit. Blow up all that taxpayer funded military hardware then spend more to rebuild it.

You can blame Bush and Cheney for that...

The goal should have been to eradicate Al Queada and remove their sponsors, the Taliban, from power.

But, as you say, the real intent seemed to be to set up the ground work for an attack on Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11.

We've seen the results of those brilliant decisions by the Bush Administration and they ain't good.
