Still more on my speakers from Amazon...

I called and asked for a $30 adjustment from the $179.99 I paid to the current price $149.99, and was told they couldn't do that, and that I would have to return the $179.99 speakers and re-order the same ones for $149.99 to get the lower price.

I did my best to talk them out of that, but they insisted it was how they wanted me to do it.

So I got authorization to return the first set and ordered the new set at $149.99.

I just checked the status of the new order and see there's a message in my account informing me that they have already refunded the original $179.99 in full, and the refund is not conditional on returning the first set of speakers at all.

I have a second set of speakers on the way at $149.99, and with the $179.99 credit I already received in my Visa account, by tomorrow afternoon I will have 2 sets of speakers at a total cost of $149.99.

As a consumer, I love getting a twofer. I will try to just enjoy my good fortune, and will pass the second set of speakers on to someone who can use them.

I'm concerned this isn't a very good business practice for Amazon or its shareholders, but hopefully it's just an anomaly like the "Bank Error in Your Favor" card in Monopoly.

I'd post this info on the Amazon board if I wasn't banned there.
