The weight penalty of the Model S is only a few hundred pounds compared to a comparable sized BMW.

Going up a hill there is a much more massive waste of energy in that BMW however.

As cells get much more energy dense and weigh less and less the efficiency just continues to gets better and better with pure electric vehicles.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Some of that energy to go uphill gets captured going downhill.

Something the ICE cannot do!

The cells are rapidly getting cheaper to make too.

Efficiency rules.

Just simple physics.
