It's just a coincidence that all those adjustments shape raw data into the proper upsloping graph the theory says it should be. Baloney.

At the best, they're choosing algorithms that confirm their expectations and fit their model. At worst, they're engaging in conscious fraud.

That raw data is the only actual data there is, if it's bad, you can't fix it by algorithm. When it is adjusted to continually shape it into a different shape that matches a theory, everyone should be suspicious.
