That is a very attractive price. If it really arrives at the end of June, will get one...

Looks like my concerns from last week proved correct: Polaris will bomb the Fury line. In fact, buy a dual R480 for $400 if you need the highest performance, but for most uses $200 will work fine. So I think ASP declines significantly for AMD in Q3, and further, for June in Q2 I'd think GPU volumes will collapse: Who would buy an existing Radeon card in the June when they can get an R480 for $200 in early July?

AMD has done an excellent job of avoiding a price war with either Intel or Nvidia for years now, while being in a secular declining market for both CPUs and GPUs. Now it seems AMD intends to prod Nvidia at least. It will be interesting to see the reaction.

Perhaps AMD is firmly convinced that they can finally increase GPU volume significantly, perhaps because of the VR hype, so they intend "to make it up on volume".

WCCFtech - 1 day ago

AMD’s RX 480 is now beginning to hit US stores. In quantities that are allegedly more than 20 times larger than GTX 1080 shipments at launch. We’ve reported a couple of days ago that the supply for AMD’s RX 480 graphics card is “strong” according to several of our industry sources. And that the RX 480 will be in-stock in substantial number s at launch.
