So, should the people who build the machines get more money than the people who don't do anything and just benefit from them? What if the people who build the machines think that is unfair and refuse to build the machines unless they're paid?

You see the problem, right?

As Milton Friedman might way, "Tell me where, exactly, you're going to find these angels who are willing to organize and run society for us and get nothing more than the next fellow in exchange?"

Bentway,
Machines SHOULD do all the work, but the benefits should be spread among the people, and not just accrue to the machine owners.
Do you realize that Karl Marx said the exact same thing?

Do you realize how the Luddites, the rise of machines, and the Industrial Revolution led to the birth of communism because of the very arguments you are making?

Do you realize how much of a failure communism and socialism has been throughout all of modern history?

There is no better system to deal with automation than capitalism. If you want to continue being a Luddite, be my guest, but don't be surprised if the world continues to evolve without you.

LOL. I loved that movie. Unfortunately for you, though, your premise is flawed. Socialism will kill technological advance just as surely as capitalism will advance it. If there is no profit motive, then there will be no robots. Venezuela has shortages of food and toilet paper? Why? Because the government set prices below the cost to make them, so companies stopped making them. Distributions systems failed. Now the country is in chaos. Socialism always has been a massive failure in every country where it has been tried. The only time it "seems" to be a success is when there are still enough parts of the country's economy that are operating in a capitalistic manner to be able to pay for the socialistic parts. When the country slides beyond the socialist tipping point, then the country as a whole is no longer profitable and the country implodes, as we see in Venezuela, as happened in Cuba, Russia, and many other Socialist paradises.

Too bad we have 50% of Americans who basically fail math. 1 minus 1 does not equal 2. Sorry to disappoint you.
