Not a particularly major threat for the following reasons:

1. The Motorola modem works on CDPD - far more expensive to use that MCOM's system - naturally there are advantages like better coverage, etc. But the cost is significanlty more.
2. CDPD isn't particularly interested in competing against MCOM for now

Two basic reasons..
Cost and speed
Access through a cellular provider costs a lot morethan Ricochet and is slower.

Access through Ricochet costs much less and is much faster.
