Yes, I agree with you it depends on the broker.
Mine is WaterHouse. My broker sets the price of $5/share for buying.
Even if it falls below 5 after I buy it, it's still marginable. But
if it drops and closes below 4 1/8, it's no longer marginable
and automatically converted into cash which would generate a
margin call.
