JerryP, Yes that was a gushing article on ATI wasn't it. And the other was equally down on S3.

I still do not discount S3. They still have substantial resources, contacts and fab capacity. Also, the OEMs will open the doors to them for another couple years because of past successes. Regarding staff defections, I have heard "rumors" too, but still haven't shaken the hands of any key folks that have left. So, I'd bet S3 will bring something competitive to market this next year. Unfortunately for all of us, the market is more intensely competitive than it was just two years ago, what with the entry into the main stream of nVidia, 3D Labs, 3Dfx, Rendition and the monopolists at Intel, plus several score more of people who could come out of nowhere and ruin our day. Also, this whole sub $1000 PC stuff is affecting the traditional segmentation schemes. It just never stops.

All us graphics weenies will be busy in 1998.
