Why would they do this? Wouldn't this slow introduction of the newer, faster CPUs, which has been Intel's bread and butter since day one? Also, why would they have been putting dormant functions in
silicon, taking up space, when silicon real estate is about as precious as Fifth Avenue real estate.

Not trying to kill the messenger, but sounds like a convoluted idea to me.
