That there is other intelligent life (and lots of it) in the universe is something I do not doubt…
That is not science.That life is highly probable off Earth I would say is true once one understands the nature of life, but to assert with certainty that there is life off planet is a statement of belief. It does not matter if a prominent scientist states that either - without facts, it is a belief.
Didn't say it was science, did I? I said I had no doubt there is other intelligent life in the universe...I expressed not certainty....I'd bet on it if you have the time to see the result...

Even the masses in the periodic table is another (see: "mass defect")
Did the Bang cause atoms to disintegrate or did the dissipation of the Bang's energy cause atoms to coalesce and form..... I have no effing idea.....
