I think the Ciena bunch has what is known as the "not invented here" or NIH syndrome.

From reading some recent posts on this thread I thought that might be a reason why they wouldn't acquire Osicom. If they were still in an early stage of making their Metro product, I think they might be more keen on the idea. Buying FIBR right now would mean accepting that all of the hard work done in developing the Metro product would be gone to waste.

I am a holder of Osicom's stock right now and am still trying to figure out the actual competitors in the short-haul market and if the Gigamux is too good to be true. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
