Pat,

Nothing in the LU announcment from two weeks ago seems like it would spur a stock jump. I sense news may be coming out--but who knows what kind? I don't think the stock should jump over 2 points in one day for nothing, unless stock manipulation by MMs is involved, maybe with mutual funds--end of the year funny business perhaps.

I do think that eventually WSTL could be a nice acquisition candidate for LU. I know they are shopping for companies.

Hal

Lucent will sell the Westell DSLAM unit and everything that goes with it. You have the correct URL:

telechoice.com

...Lucent will now begin marketing Westell's SuperVision Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) systems, including concentration shelves, line cards, mux cards, remote ADSL modems and network management systems, enabling telecommunications service providers to offer high-speed data over copper telephone wires....

Lucent will sell the racking, line cards "CAP/DMT/2B1Q", mux cards, remote ADSL modems and the network management system. If Westell has DMT line cards, Lucent will sell them. The JPC has spoken, they want a DMT solution.

...SuperVision architecture is modular driven to support multiple interfaces and multiplexing functions, and has the capability to support CAP Rate Adaptive Digital Subscriber Line, DMT Rate Adaptive Digital Subscriber Line, HDSL line modules and fiber modules, giving network operators the flexibility to configure their SuperVision shelf according to their customers' needs and network services required. Through this modular approach, Westell is able to supply service providers with the most cost-effective and powerful technology available. As new technologies emerge, modules can be added or upgraded without affecting the other modules....
