Barry, two names come to mind, Microcide (MCDE) and Cubist (CBST). Both companies have web pages:

Also, this problem has not escaped the attention of big pharma, and some genomics companies (Incyte, Human Genome, Genome Therapeutics, Millennium) have gotten into the game of sequencing whole bacterial genomes and selling access to the (often) raw data.
