LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 30, 1997--KMEX-TV, the leading Spanish-language television station in the country, will broadcast the 109th edition of the Tournament of Roses Parade live from Pasadena on Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, on the Internet, it was announced by Augustine Martinez, KMEX-TV general manager.

The international online coverage will be broadcast in Spanish simultaneously with the station's live television broadcast via a hot link from KMEX-TV's new bilingual Web site (accessible at kmex.com). This is the first time that KMEX-TV has simulcast the Rose Parade event over the information super highway. The site can be accessed by using a standard Internet browser with RealVideo plug-in technology. KMEX-TV expects more than 5,000 hits for its first cyberspace Rose Parade broadcast.

KMEX-TV will broadcast its 34th consecutive parade live and commercial-free on television and on the Internet from its site near the corner of Orange Grove Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. Presented in "Dolby Surround Sound" for the television broadcast, KMEX-TV will offer an array of spectacular camera angles and commentary from the returning hosts, Jessi Losada, Univision Sports Anchor, and Laura Harring, actress and the first Latina Miss USA.

The highly acclaimed float designer, Raul Rodriguez, will serve as a special guest commentator, and Noticias 34 Sports Anchor, Bernardo Osuna, will be situated along the parade route catching reactions from spectators. Live coverage will begin at 7 a.m. with a special edition of the station's morning show, "Los Angeles al Dia: Conteo Final" ("Los Angeles Today: The Final Countdown"). Immediately following the live broadcast, an encore presentation of the Rose Parade will air from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

KMEX-TV's bilingual Web site, which was launched last month, provides detailed information about Southern California's fast growing Hispanic market to the station's advertisers and other businesses interested in targeting this important demographic group.

Although initially designed as a business-to-business Web site, KMEX-TV also provides simultaneous Spanish and English Web pages that feature basic programming information including bilingual information about the station's coverage of World Cup '98 in France. Additionally, the site will offer hot links to the Univision Network Web page (available January '98) and Galavision (www.galavision.com).

These Web pages also emphasize KMEX-TV's top-rated Noticias 34 news team which has garnered numerous awards for its coverage of breaking and ongoing news stories in the highly competitive Los Angeles market.

KMEX-TV, Channel 34, is the flagship station of the Univision Television Group Inc., the country's leading Spanish-language television station group. The company operates 12 full-power and seven low-power television stations and two television translator stations.
