A woman whose body was found beside the road in eastern Oklahoma County has been identified as Tamyra Lynn Elston, 52. Investigators say Elston was strangled at a Norman apartment.

Keenan Holcomb, 32, was arrested Saturday in the woman's death. Holcomb has been booked into the Cleveland County jail on complaints of first-degree murder, kidnapping and unlawful removal of a body.

Detectives said a woman who witnessed the death led them to the body at 37th Street and Richardson Avenue. The witness, whose name has not been released, told officers she and Holcomb met Elston on Friday while she was walking along the southbound Interstate 35 Service Road near SE 89 Street in Oklahoma City.

They drove Elston to her apartment at 1850 12th Avenue SE in Norman and spent time with her there, police said. According to police, the witness told them she left the apartment briefly and when she returned Elston was dead.

According to what she told police, Holcomb threatened to kill her if she didn't help him dispose of the body.

The woman later contacted the Oklahoma County sheriff's office and led them to the body. Holcomb was arrested a short time later at a nearby Walmart store.

Charges are expected to be filed against Holcomb this week. The female witness has been released from custody, police said.
