Scott;

I did not like the downward movement today in light of the
overall upward bias. Altera was down also. Was there some
industry news out today to cause this movement?

As for breaking out past 40, It would take a multi-penny suprise
in earnings. Just a bullish conference call will not do it as
the past few calls have been very bullish.

I am looking to the anticipation of NEXT (April) quarter results
to get any real action above the low forties.

I am long March 50 Calls and short March 50 Puts.
I took these positions in early October when the
stock was 15 points or so higher.

I think you will make money on both of your positions.

I also bought in the low 30's, and wrote Dec. 35 calls, and Jan. 40 calls after the price went up. My shares got called away to cover the Dec. 35 calls because the price shot up over 35 on the Friday before options expiration. I just bought back the Jan. 40 calls at a small profit. I am also long June 40 calls.

Scott-
Do I think XLNX will go up? Yup. When will that happen? I haven't a clue. My guess is the first several months of '98 are going to be a bumpy ride, so those with short time horizons might do well to stay on the sidelines. As for me, knowing it is remotely conceivable that my forecast is wrong, I'll stay nervously fully invested.

GT,

Larry
