Kind of strange when considering, that just around that time DEC had already done the LSI-11 chip set together with Western Digital and thus proved, that carrying the PDP/11 to chip level and future miniaturization would be a peace of cake.
Also, early 1970, Intersil came out with their chip set emulating the PDP-8 on a single C-MOS chip!

The story of the Intel 4004 chip set is even more interesting... Let's see how many on this board know anything about that and "Intel, the Inventor of the Micro Processor".
