OT - LEDs, CFCs, etc.

I think that most companies expect to never see the warranty claims since people probably throw away the boxes, the receipts, etc. And they possibly will deny any claims they see.

I have one old LED that was humming - had to put it on outside lamp where I don't hear it. Some CFCs hum when placed in a dimmer circuit - I don't buy them anymore. Most recent dimmable LEDs that I bought don't hum. Haven't had a LED go out yet, but a bunch of CFCs that I think were also warranted for "long time". Fortunately, I also got some of the CFCs for free during home energy audit - and I kept the incandescent's they replaced - so I can't complain too much.
