Paul,

Anything short of $1.5B will be a disappointment. It will highlight the fact that profits margins are eroding and analysts will punish the Intel stock price for that reason. An educated guess would $1.2B and I would attribute this to three things: 1) Intel spent quite a bit on the bunny people ad campaign (but maybe thats why they're selling "bunny people" dolls at Fry's Electronics) 2) The Pentium II bugs have caused consumers to second guess the need for an over-rated part
3) Intel price cuts.

Their profits will drop yet again in Q198. Hence my forecast for a $50 stock price when Q198 earnings come out.
