Forget what the 2nd amendment says about "well-regulated militia," because that is obsolete. I firmly believe that the 2nd amendment grants citizens the right to self-defense, because that is what is necessary for the safety and security of a free republic.

Actually the British had started disarming citizens in the beginning of their rebellion against the king (1774). Our founding fathers put in that statement so no future leaders over the citizens could disarm the citizens. The English Bill of Rights of 1689 included the self defense crap lefties roll out in their arguments.
