You're making the assumption that (all of) the military would fight on the side of a tyrannical government. That ain't necessarily so. And......there are nearly 300 million guns in the hands of citizens in the US. It's not a given that the 2nd amendment is obsolete.

two guys with one old rifle shut down DC, Balt and richmond for 5 months. think what 5 million would do ? they would shut down all interstate travel. maybe take over national guard armories, up grading their weapons

also some of those military guys might join their side.
