In hindsight, what signalled that "leave" would win is the size of the bets for "stay" versus "leave". The bet size for "stay" was much larger, and it took many more ""leave" bets to balance the books. This is not unusual in a betting situation where you are betting the outcome of a game or sporting event, but in a voting situation, where the number of betters on the "leave" side is much larger than on the "stay" side, should have made the outcome more clear, at least to me.
