Craig,
Not to cause more confusion but you can only short on margin so if you short $10,000 YHOO it would cost you $5000 and you would have $10,000 in your account so you would make 100% at zero. Hope this makes it more confusing. It appears as though you would always make 100% is that why we like to short?

I put the example on a spreadsheet before I posted. I had to make sure myself, it is a little confusing.
