What will this announcement mean to NTN? I find the techology exciting. BTW I am a long time investor in WMB, a well run company.biz.yahoo.com Here are some excerpts: About 600 ChoiceSeat(TM) units will be installed at the Super Bowl in individual seats, club lounges, media areas and suites. By pressing a virtual button on the interactive touch-screen, Super Bowl fans can view live action from a number of individual cameras in the stadium and on the field, watch replays from multiple angles and pull up nearly limitless, relevant statistics and real-time information. They can even select other video on-demand, play games and order souvenir merchandise. ''ChoiceSeat(TM) is truly a unique and innovative way to enhance fans' experience of live stadium events -- one that we believe will become standard stadium fare in the future,'' says Del Bothof, president of Williams Network Applications. ChoiceSeat(TM) exemplifies the convergence of television and the personal computer. Its fan-friendly, touch-sensitive 10-inch color screen is installed within a stadium seat. It was developed by Williams' Vyvx(R) video services company, which transports much of the professional sports seen across the U.S. and the world today via its own fiber optic network, earth stations and satellite capacity. Vyvx has installed direct VenueNet(R) access to its fiber-optic network in all professional football, baseball, basketball and hockey facilities in the U.S. That includes Qualcomm Stadium, where Vyvx will carry the Super Bowl feed live to NBC in New York. Vyvx also carries Super Bowl and other television advertising on its satellite network. ''A key challenge,'' Bothof observes, ''will be to refine the technology so that ChoiceSeat(TM) can migrate over to other 'mass' distribution platforms and other 'place-based' settings such as theme restaurants and sports bars.''
