You DID give a gift to a business in terms of easy credit they couldn't have gotten otherwise. Or else they wouldn't have approached you. "How come you didn't make sure those lights were powered by solar panels and batteries" You never can tell. Not the part about the batteries, tho. We're on the grid. IOW you did nothing to make them energy independent. Why lights first? Generally solar companies tell customers to do all the energy conservation you can before beginning generation. They don't mean that. They're businesses and they want to sell as much solar as possible.
