Paul,,, if you check, I think you'll find I only made comment several days ago that COMPAQ was now using an AM640 chipset in their socket 7 systems. I made this comment in light of the fact that COMPAQ sells a significant number of computers in the Tier 1 market, not under the notion that COMPAQ sells an outstanding overall product. I have personal experience with COMPAQ PCs and workstations, and must admit that in looking at the "whole system", they have fallen far below Dell or Gateway products. And I understand that Dells and Gateways are almost exclusively "all Intel Inside".

Again, I glad that the Intel Inside sticker will be prominantly displayed on these machines and that the AM640 chipset (most likely in these machines) doesn't warrant a sticker on the outside of the box.

If COMPAQ continues on the present quality and performance path, it will also probably be a member of the NEC/Bull Groupe in the next two or three years.
