My dad worked for Champion International, which was bought by IP creating (at that time at least) the largest paper company in the world... one of their first changes was to sell off all of Champion's patents (and they had a slew of key ones) and shut down the R&D division there, putting my dad on the street after 37 years as intellectual property and licensing engineering manager... was not pretty... however, he did keep his converted stock in IP and it has done well... I'm just not sure I can personally support the company because of my own personal hangups with them... I know, I shouldn't let emotion, etc., drive my investment decisions... still, today would have been dad's 91st birthday (he died in Feb.) and it's sort of on my mind if you know what I mean... in a few days/weeks, though, I'll take a look at it -- others have also suggested IP to me and I'm sure it deserves consideration... KMB is one of my holdings and ironically, Champion considered KMB their biggest rival, not IP for some reason.
