It will be interesting to see how Datek integrates options into it's automated system. Just from looking at their home page, I think Dreyfus Brokerage looks like the place to trade options. Maybe Datek will look to them for a model.

No matter what the disclaimers, if a user interface repeatedly leads to errors, it should be redesigned. There are plenty of interfaces for expert users, but that doesn't mean that common errors should not be caught. In airplanes, if two buttons are close together and of similar appearance, such that pilots often push the wrong one, then the controls get redesigned. The pilots are just as experienced as orders7 users, but there are limits to human capabilities that lead to errors. Trading is done under extreme time pressure, while watching multiple screens of information flowing by in real time. For those of you who are arguing for speed, how about this - leave out the choice of Market and Limit altogether, and use the presence of a Limit price to determine the order type. Shouldn't be a problem for an orders7 user who has properly read the disclaimer, right? I am admitting that I am less perfect than all of the other orders7 users, and I am informing Datek of an error that their user interface has led me to make. Do what you wish with the information, but don't insult your customers, or call them unqualified to use the advanced trading interface. Scott
