Like you were told, once you give that power to an administration, it get passed to the next and they will build on it. As you were warned, future administrations might not be members of your tribe and you will regret starting the trend. That is, if you had any self-awareness. So now you pretend that it all started with the Obama administration. The fact of the matter it didn't. Now this administration has improved some things, like transparency. But given the state of transparency under Bush, this isn't saying much. Things might improve under Hillary. They might not. It is always more difficult to stuff the toothpaste back into the tube once it is let out. Handing over control to buy security never actually buys security. And we won't even start to discuss the unleashing of the NSA. That could take generations to bring back under control.
