<<Aussies "sold" their gold, supposedly>> Just curious to know what you think really happened?

I personally think that their LENDING might have gone bad, and they reported it as a SALE therefore...how can you otherwise explain selling off 2/3 of their "seed potatoes"???

ole 49er,

In answer to your question, US gold is valued at $42.22 per fine troy ounce, which I believe was the statutory value enacted when Nixon closed the gold window in 1972(?). It will be carried on the books at that value until changed by statute, n'est ce pas?

Happy New Year to all.

Regards,
Bill
