TO ALL: Last week following the BMY announcement I began contacting a number of major corporations (ie. Unilever, DuPont, Lilly, Glaxo, etc.). I asked them, (in light of BMY announcing plans to remediate Y2K issues) "What are they doing?" I asked for specifics regarding embedded systems in their factories and plants as well as in their R&D sites. This post is a bit premature regarding the feedback as my computer crashed last week. Due to the holidays I didn't get it back and up and running until late today. However, what I've been able to ascertain to date is that they do not want to divulge much. Big surprise, huh? They do admit to being aware of the potential problems and are dealing with it [internally]. I can quote one IR representative, a Ms. Patty Martin, of Eli Lilly: "The company has addressed [Y2K] for over a year...don't expect it to impact earnings projections...probably due to having been budgeted." She deferred further probing to her "lack of knowledge" or "not wanting to give away competitive advantage". My point is I'm finding companies reluctant to be specific with what or how they are proceeding with Y2K; yet they want to assure inquirers that they aren't ignoring the problem. Has anyone gotten different feedback? So far, it's confirming for me that prospective clients are continuing to insist on confidentiality during negotiations. Not one is admitting they're going outside their company for help. To me it is obvious they do not desire any speculating involving their earnings. There's also the the issue of entering fiscal '98 and budgeting for Y2K. Let's stick with the facts while making reasonable assumptions based on the integrity of the research and DD. Have patience; earnings are what will drive this stock and, to date, we have good reason to believe we won't be disappointed. I don't believe in coincidence. With the shareholders meeting having been scheduled so close to the time earnings are announced allows me believe management plans to bask in the spotlight on the 29th. I will post any pertinent information I obtain following up my inquiries. vpelt
