One thing I do is keep low-mileage drives in my computers.

Retiring drives after their hours of use add up, also creates a backup when you copy an old drive to a new one.

I use other backup methods also, but my retired drives are my last line of defense

Removable USB hard-drives and flash-drives are great for backups and like yourself use them often.

I keep most of my install software on a flash-drive so I can move it easily between computers and it's helpful keeping your software organized for future installs when needed.

Also, imaging your drive is very good. People should have an image of when the computer is new and another image after they have installed their core programs like their mail server. Then future backup images can be made if necessary.
