Pierre, what you say sounds very valid, but I'm curious about the "dumb terminal" upgrades which are still pending. I read, (the exact number I don't remember, but it was amazing), there are still 75 million IBM 3270 terminals in use today and they will be faced with an added push to upgrade these dinosaur systems because of the cost of fixing y2k problems. These won't be executives running spread sheets. This will be terminal operators running more set function programs.

I've read some very interesting reports about why centrally controlled PC's would save huge amounts of money for companies. I'm not willing to count out the Net PC or whatever they call it. I also believe many of these systems won't be PC upgrades, which would make them more palettable.

Yes, I wouldn't count them out, and without having read the IDC report, I can't really comment directly on your criticisim.
