Greg - Re: " Intel is taking off the gloves and it will be interesting to see what segment (less than) zero pc's does to overall margins."

Intel is putting in to place the plan they said they would - They expect 85% of the market and want that 85% (or better) market share for ALL SEGMENTS.

The margins will be lower for these cheap PCs but you can't ignore Intel's OTHER HIGH GROWTH AREAS - Advanced Notebook PC's (200, 233, 266 MHz), Workstations and SERVERS.

As Intel reduces costs - improved yields, smaller die with 0.25 micron processes - they also increase performance and can offer faster CPUs at the high end to help replace margins at the low end.

Intel will be rolling out 266 MHz Pentium MMX (Tillamook) CPUs for notebooks on January 12, and will introduce 333 MHz Pentium II later in January or early February.

Deschutes devices with 350 and 400 MHz speed will be available in late February/March time frame, along with 100 MHz 440BX chip sets.
