While I have not seen the thread in COBF it seems to me that your short marco bet becomes more and more convoluted. Now you go long commodities to hedge your short position in equities? Going long commodities seems like going long China, which is way riskier than going long the SP500 imo. The US$ is not weak either, in fact it appreciated 30% against the Euro during the last couple of years and against most merging market currencies as well. Instead of making these convoluted long/short bet, I think it may be better to just flip a coin.
