Good advice Scott--Last year when talking to my son about his 8-years as an investment counselor with Merril Lnych, and he is a conservative broker with a lot of older retired people in Scottsdale, he stated that in looking back his greatest mistakes were in getting people out to early. I have found this the most difficult part of investing-when to get out, especially when you have a profit. This is different if you are a trader Vs. an investor. I am not a trader but try to invest for 2-3 years, and many stocks I own I have had for many tears, Intc,Mo IBM and PG.

Hi Scott:
Re patience:
Me too.
I think thought that if we buy with a target in mind, and when it reaches that target look at the momentum, earnings, and chart, we can make more enlightened decisions about when to sell. The problem is when the stock doesnt quite reach the target and then suddenly starts to go south. At what point do you give in and sell (maybe even hoping to buy it back again cheaper)?
It has been a fascinating year for me. As it turned out had I just kept what I had in Jan I would be up more than I am!!!!! But I learned a lot more doing what I did (and also drove myself nuttier).
Here's to a very successful and intelligent investing 1998 for all of us. After that miserable warrant experience, we need it!!!!!
Have a glass of champagne and toast 1998!
