Bombardier (BBD.B-T) more airlines are expressing interest in Bombardier's CSeries and the company is "certain" to announce more orders for the aircraft this year, according to a company executive.

The aerospace industry's most important trade event of the year is under way in England this week and it has been "very successful" for Bombardier, said Ross Mitchell, Bombardier's vice-president of commercial operations.

"The CSeries in particular has drawn a lot of interest from a lot of people," Mr. Mitchell told the Post from the Farnborough International Airshow near London. "We expect to announce more (orders) this year, certainly." The smaller CS100 version of the aircraft will fly paying passengers for the first time on Friday, when launch customer Swiss International introduces it into its route network.

Meanwhile, the larger CS300 was awarded type certification by Transport Canada this week, adding to the momentum that has been building ever since Bombardier announced major new orders from Air Canada and Delta Air Lines earlier this year. Farnborough, however, has not resulted in Bombardier clinching a new CSeries customer.
