I hate to be a stickler for details, Mike W, but you are confused with this statement: "...TPRO needs to find some free space inside the ROM or EPROM to insert the new code. In assembly language, sometime programmers use absolute addressing, so TPRO better be careful in moving the code around." I believe that you really wanted to say "PC (Program Counter) Relative Addressing" but just got confused. Your concern is with relocatable code, written for dynamic linking. Absolute addressing mode DOES allow new code to be stuffed in between the old stuff... JohnnyH PS - Happy New Year One & All!
