Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 46818 Newt Gingrich Is a Smart Man and Caught Cruz’s Drift By Steve Berman | July 21, 2016, 06:34am | @lifeofgrace224 How do you offer support for a man you cannot follow? Ted Cruz knows how. Lay out your vision for the Republican Party, then tell voters to choose the man who loves the Constitution and conservative values. Cruz got booed for this suggestion. But New Gingrich picked up what Cruz laid down. Unlike the regular Trumpkins, Trumpbots, Trump Zombies and Branch Trumpidians, Newt is a thinking man. While I don’t agree with his conclusions, I respect the fact that he thinks deeply, and stands up to Cheeto Jesus when he feels it necessary. Addressing the crowd after Cruz (who was not “booed off the stage” as Trump tweeted ), Newt said:Now, I think you misunderstood one paragraph that Ted Cruz, who is a superb orator said and I just want to point it out to you. Ted Cruz said you can vote your conscience for anyone who will uphold the constitution. In this election there is only one candidate who will uphold the constitution. To paraphrase Ted Cruz, the only possible candidate in the fall is the pence/trump Republican ticket. That way we have a Republican ticket to implement Republican principles in Washington. To be a conservative and vote for Trump, you have to believe what Newt said. The problem isn’t that Cruz failed to endorse a Constitution-loving conservative, it’s that most of Trump’s followers either don’t care about those things or know in their minds it’s not true yet support him anyway. http://theresurgent.com/newt-gingrich-is-a-smart-man-and-caught-cruzs-drift/
